A 4K video is four times the pixels of a 1080p one, and much heavier to store, send and stream. Lowering the resolution is the most effective way to shrink a video when the viewer does not need all that detail. Drop your videos, choose the new size and download them, with the sound kept.
How to resize videos
- Drop your videos in the box above, or click to pick them. You can add as many as you like.
- Choose the new size: a percentage of the original (50% by default), an exact width or an exact height. Click More Sizes to get several resolutions at once, such as 1080p and 720p.
- Optional: open Advanced Settings to change the output format or remove the audio. By default MP4 stays MP4 (H.264), WebM stays WebM, and MOV or MKV become MP4.
- Click Start Resizing, then download each file or all of them at once. Nothing is uploaded: everything runs in your browser.
Resize by percentage, width or height
Use a percentage to scale a whole batch at once: 50% turns 4K into 1080p and 1080p into 540p. Use an exact height to target a standard resolution like 720 or 1080 pixels. Use an exact width to fit a website layout. The other side is always calculated from the aspect ratio, so the video is never stretched.
Frequently asked questions
Is the audio kept?
Yes, by default. If the browser cannot read or write the audio of a file, you get a message instead of a silent video. You can also turn the audio off under Advanced Settings, for example for background videos.
Can I upscale a video to 4K?
No. The resizer never makes a video larger than the original, because upscaling adds file size without adding detail.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. The video is decoded and encoded in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, which also means there is no file size limit other than your device memory.
