HEVC (H.265) is the codec iPhones record in. It reaches a similar quality to H.264 at roughly half the size, so resizing to HEVC gives you some of the smallest files possible. Drop your videos, choose the resolution and download HEVC MP4 files.
How to resize HEVC videos
- Drop your videos in the box above, or click to pick them. You can add as many as you like.
- Choose the new size: a percentage of the original (50% by default), an exact width or an exact height. Click More Sizes to get several resolutions.
- MP4 (HEVC) is already selected as the output format. Open Advanced Settings to add H.264 MP4 or WebM versions, or to remove the audio.
- Click Start Resizing, then download each file or all of them at once. Nothing is uploaded: everything runs in your browser.
Why resize to HEVC?
Use HEVC to archive or share smaller versions of your iPhone footage, or to save bandwidth for Apple-centric audiences. HEVC encoding depends on your browser and hardware: it works in Safari and in Chrome or Edge on devices with HEVC support. If it is not available, the resizer shows a message and you can pick MP4 (H.264) instead.
Frequently asked questions
Why does HEVC fail on my computer?
Browsers can only encode HEVC when the operating system or graphics hardware provides an encoder. Try Safari on a Mac, or Chrome or Edge on a recent device, or choose H.264 MP4.
Will HEVC videos play everywhere?
Apple devices and most recent hardware play HEVC, but some browsers and older computers do not. For maximum compatibility, also export an H.264 MP4.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. The video is decoded and encoded in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, which also means there is no file size limit other than your device memory.
