AVIF gives the smallest files of any widely supported image format, and resizing makes them smaller still. Drop your AVIF images, or any other images you want as AVIF, choose the size and download compact files ready for your website.
How to resize AVIF images
- Drop your images in the box above, or click to pick them. You can add as many as you like.
- Choose the new size: a percentage of the original (50% by default), an exact width or an exact height. Click More Sizes to get several widths at once.
- AVIF is already selected as the output format. Open Advanced Settings to add WebP or JPG fallbacks.
- Click Start Resizing, then download each file or all of them at once. Nothing is uploaded: everything runs in your browser.
Why resize to AVIF?
Combining the right dimensions with AVIF compression is the best way to cut image weight on a page, which helps your Largest Contentful Paint and mobile users on slow networks. AVIF encoding is heavier than JPG or WebP, so large batches take a little longer; when your browser cannot encode AVIF natively, a built-in encoder takes over.
Frequently asked questions
Do all browsers support AVIF?
All current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari display AVIF. For very old browsers, also export a WebP or JPG version from Advanced Settings.
Does AVIF keep transparency?
Yes. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are preserved.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing runs entirely in your browser, on your device. Your images are never uploaded to a server, so this works for private and confidential files too.
