PNG is the format to pick when you need an exact, editable copy of an image. It is lossless, so saving it again never degrades it, it keeps transparent backgrounds, and every image editor, design tool and operating system opens it. Drop your JPG, WebP, AVIF or GIF files and get PNGs back.
How to convert images to PNG
- Drop your images in the box above, or click to pick them. You can add as many as you like.
- PNG is already selected as the output format. Switch on other formats if you want them too.
- Optional: open Advanced Settings to resize by percentage, width or height, and add more sizes.
- Click Start Conversion, then download each file or all of them at once. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser.
Why convert images to PNG?
Many tools still expect PNG: older editors, slide decks, print shops and some upload forms reject WebP or AVIF. PNG is also the right working format for screenshots, diagrams and graphics you plan to edit. The trade-off is size: a photo saved as PNG is much heavier than the same photo as JPG or WebP, so keep PNG for editing and graphics, not for photos on a website.
Frequently asked questions
Does converting a JPG to PNG improve its quality?
No. PNG is lossless, so it keeps the image exactly as it is now, but it cannot restore detail that JPG compression already removed. It does stop further losses when you edit and save the file again.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels from WebP, AVIF or GIF files are preserved in the PNG. Animated GIFs are saved as a still image of their first frame.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, on your device. Your images are never uploaded to a server, so this works for private and confidential files too.
