PNG is lossless, which makes photos and screenshots saved as PNG very large. Converting them to JPG can shrink them several times over, and JPG is accepted by every app, form and website. Drop your PNG files and get JPG versions in seconds.
How to convert PNG to JPG
- Drop your PNG files in the box above, or click to pick them. You can add as many as you like.
- JPG is already selected as the output format. Switch on other formats if you want them too.
- Optional: open Advanced Settings to resize by percentage, width or height, and add more sizes.
- Click Start Conversion, then download each file or all of them at once. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser.
Why convert PNG to JPG?
Many upload forms limit file size or only accept JPG. Photos saved as PNG waste space for no visible benefit. Keep in mind that JPG has no transparency: transparent areas are filled with white, so for logos and icons with a transparent background WebP is a better target.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to the transparent background of my PNG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with white. To keep the transparency, convert the PNG to WebP or AVIF instead.
Why is the JPG so much smaller than the PNG?
PNG stores every pixel exactly, while JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photos. For photographic content the difference is barely visible but the file is much lighter.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, on your device. Your images are never uploaded to a server, so this works for private and confidential files too.
