JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and AVIF, as many as you like. Your computer does the work, so a big batch takes a moment.

WebP is supported by more software than AVIF, including older browsers, CMS plugins and many image tools, while still being much lighter than JPG or PNG. Converting AVIF to WebP is a good middle ground when AVIF is not accepted.

How to convert AVIF to WebP

  1. Drop your AVIF files in the box above, or click to pick them. You can add as many as you like.
  2. WebP is already selected as the output format. Switch on other formats if you want them too.
  3. Optional: open Advanced Settings to resize by percentage, width or height, and add more sizes.
  4. Click Start Conversion, then download each file or all of them at once. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser.

Why convert AVIF to WebP?

Some platforms, plugins and image pipelines accept WebP but not yet AVIF. WebP keeps transparency, so nothing is lost visually, and it encodes quickly. The WebP file will usually be a little larger than the AVIF.

Frequently asked questions

Is WebP more compatible than AVIF?

Yes. WebP has been around since 2010 and is supported by more browsers, apps and services than AVIF.

Will transparency be kept?

Yes. Transparent areas of the AVIF stay transparent in the WebP output.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, on your device. Your images are never uploaded to a server, so this works for private and confidential files too.
