AVIF is excellent for websites, but support outside the browser is still patchy: many photo editors, messaging apps, print services and upload forms reject it. Converting AVIF to JPG gives you a file that works everywhere.
How to convert AVIF to JPG
- Drop your AVIF files in the box above, or click to pick them. You can add as many as you like.
- JPG is already selected as the output format. Switch on other formats if you want them too.
- Optional: open Advanced Settings to resize by percentage, width or height, and add more sizes.
- Click Start Conversion, then download each file or all of them at once. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser.
Why convert AVIF to JPG?
Save an AVIF from a website and you may find you cannot open or edit it. A JPG version fixes that. The JPG will be larger than the AVIF, because JPG compression is less efficient, and any transparent areas are filled with white.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I not open my AVIF file?
AVIF is a recent format. Browsers display it, but many desktop programs, older phones and online services do not support it yet.
Why is the JPG bigger than the AVIF?
AVIF compresses much more efficiently than JPG. The JPG needs more bytes to keep a similar quality.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, on your device. Your images are never uploaded to a server, so this works for private and confidential files too.
